Illustration Friday_Vanity

 Vanity

We live in a society that is use to adorning our outward appearance with make up, jewels, clothing but, the true beauty lies within. This piece just sold "Adorning Your Spirit" and it is such a nice fit for this weeks Illustration Friday. Enjoy.

The Memory Project

This past year I heard of "The Memory Project" through Facebook and I felt compelled to be a part of this wonderful project. The Memory project gives an opportunity for art teachers or even artists to get involved with children who have been orphaned, neglected, or disadvantaged. What better way than to give of your talent and time by placing a smile on the face of these children.

I received a child from Nepal.

I decided to create a watercolor portrait. So I sketched it out, inked, and began laying
down some shadows ….
Sketched, Ink and laying down some shadows.

She is starting to come along.

Now for more layers, and the portrait begins to take shape.

After Layering, I add some details with colored pencils.

If you would like to participate or  find out more about the Memory Project  follow the link.

Can't wait to see how this lovely young lady enjoys her picture!

On My Way To Living My Creative Dream~ Post 4

It's been awhile since I've written a status on my journey of living the creative dream. Since October, I have spent the last couple of months sending out promos and emails getting my work out and so far- I have heard nothing. So the next best thing to do, is to keep creating!!! I have been loosening up and experimenting with some vector illustrations and most recently I took another plunge by signing up for ....
LRSSchool logo300

2014 Assignment BOOTCAMP with Lila Rogers . My hopes in taking the class is to enrich my portfolio with a whole new layer of rich color palettes and whimsical characters. Hopefully, it will also help me to add yet even another layer of of texture to my portraits. Mostly, I just want to create and have fun! What better way to do it than with those who do it best!

I'm excited! I'm still working on creating another promo for late Spring, early Summer. I keep telling myself~ "I am able to create EXCEEDINGLY, ABOVE and BEYOND my limited thinking". Living my creative dream is still well underway and I am enjoying every minute. Just like the art I create, it takes layers to create a masterpiece! I know that sooner or later I will break through and be able to fully support myself off of the art I create. Until then- I hope you enjoy the impressions I am leaving behind so far.  Here's just a glimpse of some recent art. You can always keep up with current soulful impressions on Soulfulartist.com.

Working on Vector Illustrations

Just wanted to share some soul doodles … It's always good to do a little experimenting…. that is with paints and a little digital media! So this past week I decided to challenge myself for my twoodle submission to go a little outside my comfort zone.

The first weeks challenge I created for the words Tea and Goose. I started out with a sketch ….

and then I decided why not take this into Illustrator and see what pops …

This lovely illustration was created with pen and ink, watercolor and collage. …
(Challenge words Love and Finch)

Join us on Twitter where each week words are posted and you choose two to crate an illustration from. When your done you post your creation with the #twoodle and enjoy the lovely creations of the twoodlers!

NEW Project!!!!!

It's 2014! and already we are in full swing! I have given myself a new challenge for the year! I'm going to capture a soulful character each month and hopefully sum up the character of that person in one word.
I'm working on the first character _ Nelson Mandela.
Keep checking back for updates on this piece, as I will soon be adding color. At the end of the year, my hope is to have a nice collection of soulful characters that can be used within a larger project I have in mind! Enjoy All!
